Dave JohsonDavid M. Johnson PSY D, FFPR, FICPP

Dr. Johnson was part of the original staff of what has become the GCC Learning Center. The Learning Center provides academic assistance to all GCC students free of charge. In 1973, he was part of the first group of psychologists to be formally licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In addition to his teaching, he is also a clinical consultant to the GCC Counseling Center. He and counseling center professional staff have presented professional papers on “Clinical Supervision of Counselors as a Quality Control Tool” at conferences at the University of Connecticut, Storrs (1988) and in Washington, D.C. (1989).

In addition to courses that he teaches in The Principles of Psychology he also teaches Abnormal Psychology, which is a course that he developed. He has been involved in Tae Kwon Do (Korean martial arts) since 1973 and as a Master Instructor, teaching multiple levels of Tae Kwon Do here at GCC. In 1990 he won the National Blackbelt League World Championship in his competitive division. Dr. Johnson has continued his clinical development and training and presently is a Diplomate-Fellow in Psychopharmacology with both The Prescribing Psychologists Register and The International College of Prescribing Psychologists.

Besides his professional pursuits, Dr. J. regularly can be found flying a plane, skydiving, skiing or riding a Harley Davidson.
