| Environmental Studies/Human Ecology (Liberal Arts Option) | Associate of Arts degree. * This program is currently undegoing review and not accepting new students for 2009-10. The study of Human Ecology promotes the development of basic literacy in evolution from the birth of the universe to contemporary life on earth. Additionally, students learn to understand basic characteristics of ecosystems and ecological problems. Human Ecology recognizes the relationship between humans and their social and natural communities, analyzing environmental issues from perspectives including race, class and gender. Students in human ecology courses i dentify, investigate and propose solutions to environmental issues that are informed by both the social and natural sciences. Finally, students begin to examine the power of personal choices and collective political involvement in solving environmental problems. |

| Peace & Social Justice Studies (Liberal Arts Option) | Associate of Arts degree. An interdisciplinary studies option where students are presented with eight keys to a culture of peace (respect all life, reject violence, share with others, listen to understand, preserve the planet, rediscover solidarity, work for women’s equality, and participate in democracy) and identify and integrate the paradigms of peace studies and social justice education and comprehend the morality and values of peace and social justice. | View program website » |
| Social Sciences (Liberal Arts Option) | Associate of Arts degree.
