Members

Membership Bylaws

The Diversity Standing Committee shall consist of 13 members:

  • 4 members elected from the Student and Academic Affairs unit;
  • 1 member elected from the Administrative Services unit;
  • 2 members elected at large from the College Assembly;
  • 1 adjunct faculty member elected by adjuncts or appointed by the GCCPA;
  • 2 members appointed by the President of the College;
  • 3 student seats:
    • 1 student member appointed by the Student Senate;
    • 2 student members elected or appointed under the auspices of the Chief Academic and Student Affairs Officer.
  • The Executive Director of Human Resources/Chief Diversity Officer serves as the Administrative Liaison to the committee (non-voting).

The DSC has 10 members for the 2014-2015 year. There are 3 vacant student positions, to be filled in the fall of 2014. Current members include:

  • Kate Finnegan, Education Faculty — (1 of 4) member elected from the Student and Academic Affairs unit;
  • Annie Garvey, Psychology Faculty — (1 of 4) member elected from the Student and Academic Affairs unit;
  • Leo Hwang, Dean of Humanities — (1 of 4) member elected from the Student and Academic Affairs unit;
  • Caitlin Worth, Math Faculty — (1 of 4) member elected from the Student and Academic Affairs unit;
  • Brian Kapitulik, Social Sciences Faculty — (1) member elected from the Administrative Services unit (Brian voted in by College Assembly because of lack of availability from Administrative Services group);
  • Liza Harrington, Librarian & DSC co-chair — (1 of 2) members elected at large from the College Assembly;
  • Mary Phillips, Nursing Faculty & DSC co-chair — (1 of 2) members elected at large from the College Assembly;
  • Vanessa Brewster, World Languages Adjunct Faculty — (1) adjunct faculty member elected by adjuncts or appointed by the GCCPA;
  • Anna Berry, Director of Educational Support — (1 of 2) members appointed by the President of the College;
  • Wendy Barnes, English Faculty — (1 of 2) members appointed by the President of the College;
  • Peter Sennett, Executive Director of Human Resources/Chief Diversity Officer – Administrative Liaison to the committee;
  • 3 student seats, to be determined in fall 2014: (1) member appointed by the Student Senate; (2) student members elected or appointed under the auspices of the Chief Academic and Student Affairs Officer.

The Diversity Programming Subcommittee has one member, Judy Raper, Director of Student Development.
