Advanced art classes from the Massachusetts College of Art & Design

These are baccalaureate-level classes from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, taught by GCC faculty and offered at GCC. Enrollment and registration for these classes is through MassArt, not GCC.

Summer Semester 09

2DPA264 Collage/Assemblage 3 credits Prof. Hyde Drawing, painting, and sculpting using found objects, appropriated images, letterforms, texts, and personal memorabilia. Slide lectures and class discussions concern the history of collage and assemblage.

Prerequisites: Completion of two College level Painting, Drawing and/or media courses. Monday/Tuesday 5:30 - 9:30PM. Class will meet in Art Studio S231. Schedule: Monday, May 25 through Tuesday, June 30.

Fall Semester 09

2DPA370 Imaginative Drawing 3 credits Prof. Hyde

Non-traditional approaches to drawing, including working from dream imagery, inventing realities, exploring abstraction, creating new tools to draw with, and experimenting with mixed media.

Prerequisites: Completion of two college level Painting, Drawing and/or media courses. Schedule: Tuesday 4 - 8PM Class will meet in Art Studio S230.

MPPH377 Landscape Photo 3 credits, Prof. Young An examination of ideas and issues in contemporary landscape photography. Emphasis is on critiquing student work, discussing ideas raised by contemporary landscape imagery, and developing a personal aesthetic.

Prerequisites: Completion of 200 level courses in photography as well as review of portfolio for acceptance into this class. Schedule: Thursday 1-5PM
