GCC is one of 15 Massachusetts community colleges participating in a $20 million, three-year grant award from the United States Department of Labor to implement the Massachusetts Community Colleges and Workforce Development Transformation Agenda (MCCWDTA). The initiative is designed to assist trade impacted and other eligible residents of the Commonwealth to attain degrees, certificates and industry recognized credentials in two years or less. Through MCCWDTA, GCC and other community colleges in Massachusetts are fundamentally changing how we work with each other and with agencies of the workforce development system, government leaders and private sector employers. Together, we are transforming education and training programs to build greater economic opportunities for residents of the Commonwealth. Participating Massachusetts community colleges will offer new or redesigned certificate and degree programs in one or more targeted industry sectors.
At GCC, this means a team committed to helping the college to develop partnerships with regional employers, and to supporting GCC students along their pathways to employment. We help the College build capacity to support all students and develop their career skills—both in career-oriented majors and in the liberal arts. We connect students with local employment and internship opportunities enhancing the competitive advantage and excellence GCC has always provided to residents of Franklin and Hampshire Counties.
