The Internal Revenue Service recognized five Greenfield Community College Business students for obtaining a 0% reject rate on one hundred and ninety personal income taxes that were prepared and electronically filed as part of the Federal Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.   The service is offered every Spring semester and provides the students with real-life tax preparation experience.  The students participating were required to take the personal income tax preparation course offered at the college in addition to passing an Internal Revenue Service Certification Exam.   The students recognized were Michael Leete, Derek Fritz, Jennifer Derby, Lyubov Denissevitch and Richard Kenyon.

The program is overseen by Thomas Fredrick, CPA and Professor of Accounting at GCC.  For more information, contact (413) 775-1493 or .
