Student and alumni profiles
How do current students and alums use the Career Center?
Emma Founds | Emma is a 2004 graduate from GCC who majored
in International Studies. She plans to attend Mt. Holyoke College in preparation
for Law school.
Emma is
aiming to begin a career in Third World Human Rights. As an Educational Transition
Program (ETP) participant, Emma utilized the Career Center to identify a
degree program at GCC through the use of our
assessment tools, the career library, and the computerized research database
DISCOVER. Emma credited her ability to narrow down career options to the
help of Colleen Kucinski who was "helpful
and friendly—I
could explore so much more with the Career Center's resources."
Shannon Larange | Not only is Shannon a current part-time
student majoring in Liberal Arts, but she also works in the Human Resources
department here
at the College.
She plans to transfer to an area four-year college. While she is still undecided
as to a major, her work in the Career Center with Colleen Kucinski gave her "much
more confidence about how to make decisions regarding that choice." Regarding
the Career Center staff, she indicated, "like most faculty and staff at GCC,
they go out of their way to help."
Elise Desnoyers | Having graduated from the Massachusetts
College of Liberal Arts with a degree in Psychology in 1987, Elise returned
from
the
work world to complete
a certificate in
Computer Assisted Bookkeeping (CAB) in 2004. Knowing she would be undergoing
a job search in a new field, she visited the Career Center in her last semester
to seek assistance. "They
really helped me pull my resume and cover letter together so that I am ready
to begin my search for a position that will allow me to use my business education."
