Lake Pleasant Program
The Pioneer Valley Institute is a unique outreach program of Greenfield Community College dedicated to our Great River Valley, its history, culture and natural wonders and its past, present and future.
Founded in 1989 as an offshoot of the former Pioneer Valley Studies Program at Greenfield Community College, PVI has over the years, examined the history, cultures and arts, the geology and natural life, the agricultural and industrial traditions of the Connecticut River valley.
We are an educational outreach organization based at GCC that explores
the past, present and future of the Pioneer Valley through lectures,
workshops, field trips, and art exhibits. Over the years we have sponsored programs
in agriculture, industry and geology (among other topics).
Join us in celebrating this extraordinary region, its growing diversity of cultures, its history and geologic wonders, its artists and craftspeople and its great wealth of natural resources.
The Institute welcomes the opportunity to co-sponsor programs that address issues of environmental, natural and cultural preservation as well.
Contact us by telephone, 413.775.1671 or by e-mail, herbertc@gcc.mass.edu
The Pioneer Valley institute is funded in part through the GCC
Foundation.
