Resources for potential students and massage therapists

  • AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association) | Provides information on licensing and massage therapy in general. AMTA members also qualify for low-rate liability and malpractice insurance.
  • COMTA (Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation) | An independent accrediting body for the massage therapy profession.
  • NCBTMB (National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork) | Organization which administers the national certification exam for massage therapists

Licensing information
There is no state licensing for massage therapists in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; practitioners must be licensed by local boards of health in each community where they wish to practice. Fees range from $30 to $60 annually. Consult your local board of health for more information. Some states do license massage therapists; AMTA regularly publishes a state-by-state guide to licensing available here.

Tables, equipment & other supplies
Stillpoint students must purchase a variety of supplies for use in class; however, many of these are available at the GCC Bookstore are are covered by financial aid awards. We have found the following vendors to have quality products at reasonable prices:
