Workforce Training Funds

The Workforce Training Funds (WTFP) is a Massachusetts state fund enacted into law in July 1998 and financed entirely by Massachusetts employers. Its purpose is to provide funding resources to Mass businesses and workers to train current and newly hired employees. Here are some general provisions of the program:

  • Up to $250,000 is available through WTFP grants
  • Businesses are eligible if they have paid into the WTFP through paying unemployment insurance
  • There are two types of WTFP grants: Express Grants and General Program Grants
    • Express Grant applications can be submitted at any time and have a 5-day decision turn-around
    • General grants announce 3 or 4 submission dates per year with decisions being made within 60 days
