{"id":7326,"date":"2016-06-17T11:16:46","date_gmt":"2016-06-17T15:16:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gcc.mass.edu\/academics\/?page_id=7326"},"modified":"2026-10-14T11:42:30","modified_gmt":"2026-10-14T15:42:30","slug":"awards-honors","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.gcc.mass.edu\/academics\/awards-honors\/","title":{"rendered":"Academic Awards &amp; Honors"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Commencement Awards<\/h3>\n<p>The following academic awards are given annually at Commencement to recognize students with outstanding academic achievement.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Accounting Award <\/strong>\u2014 for excellence in accounting<\/li>\n<li><strong>Art Department &#8220;Medici&#8221; Award<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014\u00a0awarding a tool that can be used to earn a living and to build a dream<\/li>\n<li><strong>Business Information Technology Award<\/strong> \u2014 for academic excellence<\/li>\n<li><strong>Criminal Justice Award <\/strong>\u2014 recognizing outstanding achievement in criminal justice<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dance Award<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Drama Award<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Early Childhood Education Award<\/strong> \u2014 for excellence in the care and education of young children<\/li>\n<li><strong>English Award <\/strong>\u2014 recognizing excellence in English<\/li>\n<li><strong>Charles Green Award<\/strong> \u2014 for leadership in co-curricular activities and development of the college community<\/li>\n<li><strong>International Student Scholastic Achievement Award<\/strong> \u2014 given to students who have risen above the language and cultural differences to join the college community and to complete their programs of study successfully<\/li>\n<li><strong>Liberal Arts Award<\/strong> \u2014 based on cumulative grade average, completion of the greatest portion of one&#8217;s\u00a0studies at GCC, and the breadth and variety of involvement with the liberal arts<\/li>\n<li><strong>Music Department Award<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 recognizing\u00a0excellence in music<\/li>\n<li><strong>Donald Oberacker Award<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 for a graduate who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and commitment to the study of science<\/li>\n<li><strong>Social Sciences Award<\/strong> \u2014 recognizing outstanding academic achievement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Graduation with Honors<\/h3>\n<p>To graduate with honors students must\u00a0have completed at least thirty credit hours of course work at Greenfield Community college and have maintained a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5. These students are noted in\u00a0our annual Commencement program.<\/p>\n\n<h3>President's and Dean's List<\/h3>\n<p>Each semester Greenfield Community College recognizes superlative academic performance.\u00a0 We applaud the success of students who earn these high grades and appreciate sacrifices that are often made by students in order to earn these grades.<\/p>\n<p>To be included on the <b>President's List<\/b>, a student must be matriculated in a program and have:\u00a0 achieved a term GPA of 4.0 at the term's end; earned at least 12 credits at GCC; earned at least 6 college-level graded credits in the semester or during summer terms I and II combined; no incomplete grades*; no grade less than a \"C\" in the term*; and achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 at the end of the term.<\/p>\n<p>To be included on the <b>Dean's List<\/b>, a student must be matriculated in a program and have:\u00a0 achieved a term GPA of at least 3.50 or higher but less than 4.0 at the term's end; earned at least 12 credits at GCC; earned at least 6 college-level graded credits in the semester or during summer terms I and II combined; no incomplete grades*; no grade less than a \"C\" in the term*; and achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 at the end of the term.<\/p>\n<h3>Dual Enrollment Recognition<\/h3>\n<p>Each semester Greenfield Community College recognizes the Dual Enrollment students who meet the following qualifications.
