{"id":7326,"date":"2016-06-17T11:16:46","date_gmt":"2016-06-17T15:16:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gcc.mass.edu\/academics\/?page_id=7326"},"modified":"2025-07-02T18:14:23","modified_gmt":"2025-07-02T22:14:23","slug":"awards-honors","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.gcc.mass.edu\/academics\/awards-honors\/","title":{"rendered":"Academic Awards &amp; Honors"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Commencement Awards<\/h3>\r\nThe following academic awards are given annually at Commencement to recognize students with outstanding academic achievement.\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><strong>Accounting Award <\/strong>\u2014 for excellence in accounting<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Art Department \u201cMedici\u201d Award<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014\u00a0awarding a tool that can be used to earn a living and to build a dream<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Business Information Technology Award<\/strong> \u2014 for academic excellence<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Criminal Justice Award <\/strong>\u2014 recognizing outstanding achievement in criminal justice<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Dance Award<\/strong><\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Drama Award<\/strong><\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Early Childhood Education Award<\/strong> \u2014 for excellence in the care and education of young children<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>English Award <\/strong>\u2014 recognizing excellence in English<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Charles Green Award<\/strong> \u2014 for leadership in co-curricular activities and development of the college community<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>International Student Scholastic Achievement Award<\/strong> \u2014 given to students who have risen above the language and cultural differences to join the college community and to complete their programs of study successfully<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Liberal Arts Award<\/strong> \u2014 based on cumulative grade average, completion of the greatest portion of one's\u00a0studies at GCC, and the breadth and variety of involvement with the liberal arts<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Music Department Award<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 recognizing\u00a0excellence in music<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Donald Oberacker Award<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 for a graduate who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and commitment to the study of science<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Social Sciences Award<\/strong> \u2014 recognizing outstanding academic achievement<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h3>Graduation with Honors<\/h3>\r\nTo graduate with honors students must\u00a0have completed at least thirty credit hours of course work at Greenfield Community College and have maintained a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5.
