{"id":7380,"date":"2016-06-29T11:31:28","date_gmt":"2016-06-29T15:31:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gcc.mass.edu\/academics\/?page_id=7380"},"modified":"2025-07-02T18:14:25","modified_gmt":"2025-07-02T22:14:25","slug":"studios-labs","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.gcc.mass.edu\/academics\/studios-labs\/","title":{"rendered":"Studios &amp; Labs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GCC's <strong>studios<\/strong> and <strong>labs<\/strong>\u00a0offer additional opportunities for academic enrichment. <strong>Studios<\/strong> are informal campus spaces for students to meet\u00a0and\u00a0study or participate in events or tutoring. <strong>Labs<\/strong> are dedicated, specialized spaces for hands-on learning in a variety of disciplines.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a href=\"\/education\/lab\/\"><strong>Early Childhood Education Lab<\/strong><\/a> is an\u00a0innovative space that combines an adult academic learning environment with hands-on opportunities to practice with the materials, tools, knowledge, and skills needed to critique and design early childhood learning environments. Students work collaboratively to play and experiment in order to deepen their understanding of how children learn and grow.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong><a href=\"\/math\/studio\/\">Math Studio<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(Fourth Floor North) is a place for students to work with each other and with faculty on\u00a0questions and problems related to mathematics. The Math Studio is equipped with comfortable chairs and tables,\u00a0computers, and math resources and texts. The studio is open for use throughout the day and is staffed by math\u00a0faculty during posted hours. No appointment is needed; students may just come by.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Social Sciences Studio<\/strong> (East 115) provides a welcoming and resource-rich space for students\u00a0to convene and interact with each other and faculty in the social and behavioral sciences. Students and faculty use\u00a0the Social Sciences Studio for tutorials, study groups, computer projects and access to the college network and the\u00a0Internet, small group projects, as well as college\/community meeting and networking. The studio also provides\u00a0gallery display space and periodically presents special events, speakers, and films.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Science Studio<\/strong> (Fourth Floor South) offers a cooperative work space for individual students\u00a0or groups of students. The studio is equipped with two computers, anatomy and physiology models, resource\u00a0books and movable furniture. It opens to faculty offices to allow student interactions with their professors.\u00a0Students are encouraged to make use of the space during all building hours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GCC's studios and labs\u00a0offer additional opportunities for academic enrichment.
