Impact of Failed Courses for Veterans

Students who receive education benefits through the Veterans Administration are governed by regulations that sometimes differ from federal financial aid rules.

Did you know that the VA will not pay for a class that is failed due to low attendance? The VA may submit a bill to the student for courses in which a student received an “F” grade due to low attendance, or courses not completed and marked “W”, “IN” or “O.” Students can be billed not only for their courses but also for the housing allowance and other support they received. This can run into the thousands of dollars!

Failing a class can have huge financial consequences!
