Why BIT?

To prepare for a successful career in the high-demand fields of the future, start with GCC BIT! You can take day, evening, and online classes as you work towards your goal.

Successful Transfers
Transfer options let you save on college tuition while receiving an excellent education. Many of our students transfer and maintain their high GPAs while excelling in their studies, and successfully graduate with their bachelor’s degree. The BIT department offers programs that meet the MassTransfer requirements for transfer to a bachelor’s degree program, and maintains transfer agreements with both public and private schools throughout New England.

Career Tracks
You have the opportunity to explore a wide range of business concepts and computer information technologies, all supported by a strong foundation of courses in business, accounting, economics, management, human resources, marketing, and computer skills. Carefully planned certificates and associate degrees are available in highly desirable business categories. The BIT department’s goal is to prepare students for workforce entry, professional advancement, entrepreneurship, or transfer to a bachelor’s degree program.

Stackable Credentials
GCC provides “stackable” credentials that enable you to earn a career-related certificate on your way toward achieving an associate degree in a business, information technology, or liberal arts discipline. By documenting your student achievements with one-year career Certificates, students have the opportunity to apply their learning and talents to higher-level, career-related employment while continuing to pursue a two-year Associate Degree. Entrepreneurship
GCC’s BIT Department recognizes that a strong, local economy is built upon a thriving foundation of small businesses. For this reason, GCC offers our Entrepreneurship Certificate program which enables students to formulate a business plan under the mentorship of GCC’s BIT faculty. In addition to in-house support, GCC maintains strong ties with local support networks and organizations and opens doors for student entrepreneurs. We are proud of the many local business owners who had their start at GCC!

Internships
The BIT faculty match students and businesses with meaningful and mutually beneficial internships. You have the opportunity to gain real experience in the career of your choice, gaining valuable knowledge and experience. Local businesses and non-profit institutions seek out our students for internships in marketing, accounting, management, sales and computer information systems.
