Undecided about your major? Unsure about your career path? Want to make the most out of your time at GCC?
We can help with that.
Compass advisors provide each undecided student a personalized advising experience that takes each individual’s interests and goals into account. When working with a Compass advisor, students will develop personalized maps to graduation, transfer opportunities, and careers!
Peer Mentors are students who have been at GCC for at least two semesters. They can offer advice on what it’s like to be a student here and how to make the most your time at GCC!

Compass workshops are an opportunity to hone the skills you need to be successful in college. Regular workshops are held throughout the semester on topics like time management, preparing for registration, exploring majors and careers, and more!
Have you been out of school for a while? Do you remember doing math in the past, but worry that your skills are rusty? Dust off that knowledge with our January Math Refresher!
Through this course you will build your math skills and gain confidence before starting the semester. You’ll use an online program that will assess your current math skills and create a study plan tailored to your specific needs. Then you’ll work through that plan at your own pace in a computer classroom with a GCC math professor. There will also be a peer mentor on hand to support you with technology. At the end of this course, you will retake the Accuplacer math tests and an advisor will help you adjust your schedule as needed.
As long as you’re enrolled in at least one spring course at GCC, this course is included at NO EXTRA COST! This course will be offered twice. You are expected to attend every class meeting in the session you choose.
Session I: January 8-12 from 3-5PM
On the first day you will take a diagnostic test, after which a light dinner will be provided. Dinner may run past 5:00.
Session II: January 16-19 from 9:30AM-12PM
On the first day you will take a diagnostic test, after which a light lunch will be provided. Lunch may run past noon.
