How to apply:

  • There is one common application for all scholarships, though some require additional documentation.
  • The online application will match you to all scholarships for which you meet the eligibility. However, it’s a good idea to check the list of scholarships to verify the awards you may qualify for.
  • All scholarships require submission of a 250-500 word personal, biographical statement.
    • Your personal statement is vital to helping our selection committees select recipients because it allows them to learn more about you than just your grades, activities, and achievements. Your statement is your moment to shine, show your personality, share your goals and passions and compel our reviewers. We encourage you to take care in creating your statement, as it is your chance to “stand out” from other applicants. Your personal statement should address the following:
      • Tell us about what who you are and what has shaped you
      • Skills, interests, personal qualities, motivations, formative experiences or identities
      • Tell us about your experience at GCC: your major, a class or extracurricular involvement that sparked something for you, meaningful encounters with faculty/staff/peers, personal growth
      • Tell us about your future goals—life, work, and educational
      • Your larger purpose, interests, hopes and dreams, motivations, curiosities (we know these may change in the future—you’re not writing a contract!)
  • Some awards have specific eligibility criteria—like GPA or program of study—or require a supplemental statement written on a specific topic.
  • Some awards require that a letter of recommendation be provided. It is your responsibility to have your recommendations submitted to the Foundation by the deadline! Recommendations  should be sent by email to foundation@gcc.mass.edu, or mailed to GCC Foundation, ATTN: Andrea Carlin, Scholarship Recommendation, One College Drive, Greenfield MA 01301. Be sure when you ask for a recommendation to give the recommender at least a two week notice.
  • Log into MyGCC to complete the online application form. Submit only one application in order to be considered for multiple awards. (You will not be considered for certain scholarships if you do not meet the eligibility criteria.)
