This is an exciting internship opportunity to work with Sowing Solutions based out of Shelburne Falls, 15 minutes from Greenfield. Sowing Solutions provides ecological design services to land stewards and home owners in the Pioneer Valley, and also offers a Permaculture Design Training and Certification Course twice a year in Western MA. This internship would be a study in the design, implementation, and maintenance tasks typical to the autumn season for a garden design and installation business in this region. Sowing Solutions has a focus on planting edible, medicinal, and beneficial plants. This internship will be alongside mentor Kay Cafasso, a leading educator of permaculture in the northeastern US, as well as with our crew manager.

Intern responsibilities

Interns will assist the designers and gardeners at our project sites
in the Shelburne Falls, Greenfield, Conway, and Buckland area. The
field directors will guide interns with the ongoing garden maintenance
and implementation tasks for the edible, ornamental, medicinal, and
habitat plantings.

• Must have reliable transportation and be available to work at Sowing
Solutions for a half day, or full day, each week.

• Attention to detail.

• Ability to work as a team member.

• Ability to work outdoors with garden tools.

Desired outcomes of internship
* Interns will assist permaculture designers and educators.
* Interns will gain direct experience in the gardens and landscapes
that have been designed by Sowing Solutions.

Compensation: Compensation: $500 voucher for the Sowing Solutions Permaculture Design Course if it is a 5 hour day, and an $800 voucher for full day interns. This course is eligible for Credit for Prior Learning at GCC (fee).
