What is a Medical Assistant?
Medical Assistants are integral members of healthcare teams—performing preliminary patient assessments, administering EKGs, and recording information in electronic medical records. Medical assistants typically work in professional medical office settings with standard hours—no nights, weekends or holidays! Medical assisting can be a gateway job to other healthcare careers including practical nursing, nursing, radiologic technology—and provides critical clinical experience (160+ hours) required for pre-med and pre-PA programs.
