{"id":239115,"date":"2016-03-10T19:05:33","date_gmt":"2016-03-11T00:05:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gcc.mass.edu\/library\/?page_id=239115"},"modified":"2026-03-31T12:28:32","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T16:28:32","slug":"open-education-faculty-fellowships","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.gcc.mass.edu\/library\/faculty\/open-education-faculty-fellowships\/","title":{"rendered":"Open Education Faculty Fellowships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Applications for the 2026 OEFF have closed.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"lead\"> The GCC Open Education Faculty Fellowship program aims to lower the cost of a GCC education by incentivizing the use of open educational resources (OERs) and other low-cost materials in place of traditional textbooks. The OEFF provides stipends to compensate faculty recipients for the additional time necessary to locate, evaluate, and\/or create appropriate materials for a new iteration of a course. <\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Stipend amounts:<br \/>\n<\/strong>$500 for individual instructors<br \/>\n$500-$1500 for groups working together<\/p>\n<p><strong>Guidelines:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The OEFF is open to adjunct and full-time faculty members.<\/li>\n<li>Multiple stipends for one faculty member will be considered. Please complete an application for each course.<\/li>\n<li>If you're applying as a group, your award amount will be determined based on the scope of the project, the number of people involved, and funds available.<\/li>\n<li>New and existing courses are eligible. Updates to courses that already use free materials will be considered if funding allows.<\/li>\n<li>Proposals that integrate free materials will receive priority. Proposals that significantly lower costs for student will be considered, if funding allows.<\/li>\n<li>Students may be given the option to purchase low-cost print textbooks to supplement free electronic textbooks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Viability: An applicant\u2019s plan demonstrates that appropriate materials exist or can be created.<\/li>\n<li>Enrollment: Core courses with high enrollment will receive priority.<\/li>\n<li>Savings: Courses that currently utilize high-cost materials will receive priority.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Have questions about the application?
