Earn College Credit at GCC this Summer, Including Free College-Level Courses through the Bridges to Success Program and the STEM Starter Academy

Greenfield Community College (GCC) offers college-level classes during the summer to help students get started, catch up, or jump ahead. There are two summer sessions, with time to still participate in GCC's Summer Session II, which begins on July 15th and runs until August 29th.

Students in GCC's summer sessions can get started on their college experience, at a time when the campus is a little slower and class sizes might be smaller. This more intimate setting can be a perfect entry point for someone who may be intimidated by going to college, or who has never been exposed to college before. Our staff is on hand to help every student navigate their college journey.

For adults who are thinking about starting or going back to college, GCC offers a Bridges to Success summer college preparation program. Through the Bridges to Success program, GCC offers free summer classes and workshops for adult learners starting a degree or certificate program at GCC. GCC also offers free Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses for qualified students who are new to STEM, through the STEM Starter Academy. GCC's STEM Starter Academy is part of a statewide initiative to promote STEM fields. Our program is for students new to STEM, including high school students and older adults, who are interested in attending GCC. There are still a few spots open for this free program, but interested participants should sign up soon. To learn more, visit: https://www.gcc.mass.edu/stemacademy/

Students may also participate in GCC's summer sessions to catch up on important college-level coursework. Offering an affordable option for earning college credit, students currently enrolled at a 4-year college or university can take general education courses at GCC and get college credit.

College students, and current high school students (also known as Dual Enrollment), can take summer courses at GCC to get ahead in their studies. Earning college credit during the summer, when most students are taking a break, is a great way to get ahead. With the right planning, students can reduce their total time spent earning a degree by multiple semesters, even years!
