The Michael Doherty Creative Writing Contest
Plum is excited to announce its first creative writing contest!
Named after Plum alumni editor Michael Doherty, who has donated much of his time and energy to this publication and to community reading programs, The Michael Doherty Creative Writing Contest celebrates the numerous established and emerging writers from our region and supports the creative literary interests of students at the college and high school levels.
The contest is open to writers, ages 14-17 and 18+, in western Massachusetts, southern Vermont, and southern New Hampshire in the categories of poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction.
The winning entries in each genre and age category will be published in Plum and their authors will receive cash prizes at the Plum issue release party open to the public.
All submissions will be considered for publication even if they are not chosen as the winning entry.
Submit up to four of your best pieces below. Multiple and simultaneous submissions are accepted.
Submission deadline: April 2o, 2017
