where I slept for seven days<\/p>\n
in the house of my lover\u2019s wife.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Dear lover of poetry, farmer, family man;<\/p>\n
what happens when the lonely Zanate<\/p>\n
pecks too hard at his own corrupted image?<\/p>\n
When the glass shatters, shards falling<\/p>\n
to the concrete veranda where spotted<\/p>\n
chanchitos roam at dusk.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
On elegant, iron\u2013black feet, will he hop<\/p>\n
into the room, searching the empty beds<\/p>\n
and soiled laundry for his love,<\/p>\n
finding only crazy ants to eat for dinner?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Or will he take flight toward the coast,<\/p>\n
hearing the quiet and ancient voices of turtles<\/p>\n
mumuring from their eggs under the sand,<\/p>\n
following that call, relentless as the tides,<\/p>\n
our lonely Zanate with bright black wings,<\/p>\n
