The smell of hair dye<br \/>\nmakes me break into hives, a sort of hysteria.<br \/>\nHysteria is an old-fashioned,<br \/>\nFreudian word. Freud is out-of-fashion,<br \/>\nand that is a relief. I want fashion<br \/>\nto be out-of-fashion. I want to lie<br \/>\nin uncut grass with uncut hair<br \/>\nin the world of Whitman. His extravagant world<br \/>\nof ecstatic words. I want no more text messages,<br \/>\nplastic surgery, lotions, wrinkle removers.<br \/>\nI am sick of magazine articles on organizing closets.<br \/>\nI have come to dislike the fashion of feng shui,<br \/>\nalthough why should I? Harmony is good.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s also a good idea to thank your old sweaters,<br \/>\nthen kiss them good bye. I am afraid<\/p>\n<p>of my face looking like the bark of an old tree.<br \/>\nAt the same time, I am tired<br \/>\nof being deferential to a mirror.<br \/>\nI am tired of being outgoing.<\/p>\n<p>I want to be shy, to float like a cloud<br \/>\nin the blue sky, grow black with rain,<br \/>\nfall every day, on parched earth,<br \/>\ngive myself to trees.<\/p>\n<p>Birds, come dip your feathers<br \/>\nin the jaunty fountains,<br \/>\nfor I will be a thousand drops of water.<br \/>\nThe beauty shops will dissolve,<br \/>\njoin fossils and elephant bones.<br \/>\nFleshy, spore-bearing fruit of fungus<br \/>\nwill spread its thready network<br \/>\nforever underground.<br \/>\nEnchanted circles swill spring up.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(after Pablo Neruda) and it happens that I am tired of beauty shops.
