{"id":488,"date":"2019-11-06T13:21:56","date_gmt":"2019-11-06T18:21:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gcc.mass.edu\/science\/?page_id=488"},"modified":"2022-10-11T09:42:59","modified_gmt":"2022-10-11T13:42:59","slug":"stemscholars","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.gcc.mass.edu\/science\/scholarships\/stemscholars\/","title":{"rendered":"STEM Scholars"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5><div class=\"lead\"><\/h5>\n<h5><strong>The STEM Scholars<\/strong> is a scholarship cohort funded by the SSA (STEM Starter Academy), a program of the Department of Higher Education.<\/h5>\n<h5><\/div><\/h5>\n<h4><strong>Scholarship Details:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Scholars will receive two scholarships- each in the amount of $750- during the 2022-2023 academic year; one in the Fall semester and one in the Spring.<\/li>\n<li>Scholars are required to attend one STEM group\/event per month <em>minimum<\/em><strong>.<\/strong> Events will vary in time and day to fit the availability of cohort members.<\/li>\n<li>There will be opportunities for scholars to receive additional stipends in exchange for performing leadership duties (i.e.- moderating alum Q &amp; As, leading group activities, etc).<\/li>\n<li>The application is open to current STEM majors (see below for a list of qualifying majors) who currently have a GPA of 2.5 or higher (please submit a transcript from your previous institution if this is your first semester at GCC).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligible majors<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Biology (BIO), Chemistry (CHE), Computer Science (CSC), Engineering Science (EGS), Health Science (LAH), Environmental Conservation (LEN1), Farm and Food Systems (LFF), Mathematics (LMA), Plant and Soil Science (LPL), Pre-nursing (NUC), Science of Earth and the Environment (SEE).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Applications closed on Thursday, October 6th.
