The Upward Bound Program at GCC is one of the federally funded TRIO programs of the Department of Education that provides FREE, intensive year-round services to first-generation, low-income students.

The purpose of the GCC Upward Bound program is to prepare students for college by increasing the academic skills and cultural competency they need to succeed in high school and college, while deepening students’ awareness that obstacles and challenges that many first-generation, low-income students face in college and beyond are a product of systemic injustice. Our hope is that students will not only succeed academically but that they will use their education to participate in the work to change the current social, economic, and political conditions that fuel injustice.
