All students registered for classes are issued an electronic library card automatically. Your login information for library services is different from other GCC services.<\/strong> Library cards expire one academic year following the last semester of active enrollment.<\/p>\n

Your library barcode (and username to login to library services) is: <\/strong>

Your default password for library services is:
\n<\/strong>Your last name in ALL CAPS

We recommend you change your password as soon as possible at gcc.cwmars.org<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

If you had a library card prior to spring 2022, your older barcode and the newer barcode will both work. If you find that your older password does not work, please try the new default (last name in ALL CAPS). Please note you will need to use the newer barcode number (269960 + your student ID number) to change your password.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

<\/span>For Faculty and Staff<\/div>

Faculty and staff hired after summer 2024 will also be issued a library card automatically. Cards expire every two (2) years; you will get an email seven (7) days prior to expiration. You can renew by stopping by the library, calling us or forwarding that email to library@gcc.mass.edu<\/a> with the request to renew.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Library Card Opt-Out<\/div>
\n

Students, faculty and staff may choose not to have a GCC library card created for them automatically. This impacts your ability to access GCC library resources, including some streaming film databases and the technology lending library. It does not impact any public library accounts you may have within CWMARS. If you would like to opt out of a GCC library card, please email library@gcc.mass.edu<\/a> with your name, student ID number, and the request to opt out. You can opt back in at any time by emailing library@gcc.mass.edu<\/a> with your name, student ID number,and the request to opt in.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

GCC student ID cards are issued by the library (third floor, core) during regular service hours; no appointment necessary. Registered GCC students may request an ID card in-person at the library, or online through MyGCC (see instructions for online photo submission below).<\/p>\n

  • You must be registered for a class in order to receive a GCC photo student ID card. Application and acceptance to the college alone is not enough to issue an ID card. We do not make ID cards for alumni.<\/li>\n
  • Chosen first name will appear on the ID card if it has been entered in myGCC. If not, your legal first name will appear on the ID card. Contact the library if you have any questions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
    <\/span>Request a Card on Campus<\/div>

      \n
    • Visit the library during regular service hours and ask for an ID card at the front desk.<\/li>\n
    • \u00a0You will be asked to verify your identity by providing a government or school issued photo ID or by logging into MyGCC in front of a librarian. If you are not able to meet these criteria, we will accept two (2) alternate forms of ID, including:\n
        \n
      • Social security card<\/li>\n
      • Birth certificate<\/li>\n
      • Credit or debit card in your name<\/li>\n
      • Utility or bank records with your name, dated within the past 60 days<\/li>\n
      • College correspondence with your name, dated within the past 60 days<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>
        <\/span>Request a Card Online<\/div>
        \n
          \n
        1. Log into MyGCC.<\/li>\n
        2. Upload a photo to MyGCC by clicking the photo icon in the lower right-hand corner. The photo must meet all requirements (see list below).<\/li>\n
        3. Check the box that says “Please check if you would like a printed ID card mailed to your house. Cards are mailed on a weekly basis.”<\/li>\n
        4. Library staff will notify you if there are any issues with the photo you submitted. Your request for an ID card will not be processed until all photo requirements are met.<\/li>\n
        5. Your ID card will be mailed to the address listed in your Banner account, and should take approximately 1-2 weeks to arrive.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Online ID Photo Requirements<\/h2>\n
            \n
          • Be a JPEG, 300 x 400 pixels and under 1.0 MB in size.<\/li>\n
          • Be of the student, taken within the last six months and reflecting current appearance.<\/li>\n
          • Be in color, taken in front of a solid white background.<\/li>\n
          • Have a small space between the top of the head and the top of the image.<\/li>\n
          • Have a slightly larger space between the bottom of the chin and the bottom of the image.<\/li>\n
          • Be taken in full-face view, facing the camera (no side views or tilted head).<\/li>\n
          • Show a natural smile or neutral facial expression.<\/li>\n
          • No masks, sunglasses, headphones, wireless mobile devices, or other similar items. Glasses
            \nwith clear lenses and head coverings worn regularly for medical or religious
            \npurposes are fine.<\/li>\n
          • Photos should not be digitally modified in any way. Filters, background removal tools,
            \ntouch-up tools like Facetune, and AI generated or modified images are not allowed.<\/li>\n
          • No group photos.<\/li>\n
          • Not be derogatory in any way.<\/li>\n
