The most beautiful thing I had ever seen
Was the angels rising up
Grabbing hold, tightly of branches and twigs of hope.
Rushing by, sometimes at lightening speed
Gone, in the flash of a gun shot.
We sit or stand, banded together on mountains of weight
Waiting for something to change, surrounded by noise,
Chemical sprays, flash bangs, swirling smoke.
Our resolve grows tired,
We are weary, our hearts heavy.
The angel floats through, touching each courageous soul
Infusing within them, and filling of their cup
Community, soul food.
Small acts of generosity, kindness, presence, patience,
Binding and cementing people together
Creating survivors and warriors
Sending that angel to the next group that
Needs something they can grab on to, tightly.
To fill their cups and lighten their hearts,
Share the load and We stand united
