The GCC Foundation awards more than 200 scholarships each year—available in June, September, and January—to support new and current students of all majors, including part-time and dual-enrolled. Scholarships are both merit- and need-based, with additional awards for transfer students, and can be applied toward tuition, fees, books, and other educational expenses. Students must log into the scholarship portal using their GCC email; new students will receive login credentials after acceptance. Before applying, be sure to check with Student Financial Services to see if you qualify for the free Massachusetts community college program. Priority will be given to students who do not already have their tuition and fees covered by state programs.
Apply Now!- There is one common application for all awards, though some require additional documentation. The online application will match you to all scholarships for which you eligible.
- All applications require a 250–500 word personal statement. This is your chance to shine—share your story, highlight your passions and goals, and help reviewers understand what makes you unique. We encourage you to take time crafting your statement, as it’s your opportunity to stand out from other applicants. Your statement should address:
- Your interests, qualities, motivations, formative experiences, identities, hopes, and future goals (educational, professional, or personal)
- Who you are and what has shaped you
- If you’re a current GCC student, your experiences here—your major, extracurricular activities, and personal growth

- Some awards have specific eligibility criteria—like GPA or program of study—or require a supplemental statement written on a specific topic.
- Some awards require that a letter of recommendation be provided. It is your responsibility to have your recommendations submitted to the Foundation by the deadline! Recommendations should be sent by email to foundation@gcc.mass.edu, or mailed to GCC Foundation, ATTN: Andrea Carlin, Scholarship Recommendation, One College Drive, Greenfield MA 01301. Be sure when you ask for a recommendation to give the recommender at least a two week notice.
