Closed Captioning a YouTube Video Posted on July 22, 2019 One advantage of using YouTube to publish video content you have created for your students is that your submissions are automatically closed captioned. The automatic closed captioning is not perfect, however, so faculty must edit it to fix spelling mistakes, add punctuation, and make similar copy edits. If you find the automated closed captioning has not worked, it is probably because your video began with silence. Edit the video so there are fewer than 3 second of silence to start!
