The Office of Student Leadership & Engagement is at the heart of the GCC student community. We strive to create conditions where students may take an active role in the student body, and attain a sense of personal investment in GCC. We do this by creating opportunities for students to create or join a club, participate in student governance, and attend educational, cultural, and social events. These shared experiences allow students to develop important skills, including leadership and governance, teamwork, budgeting, communication, and active citizenship. gccpermaculture 33 187 GCC Permaculture Club We had such a fun time dancing at yesterday`s salsa workshop, under the excellent teaching of @mccoy.jamison ! 22 0 Open Our Permaculture Club actually grew out of the Permaculture Installation class and now, that same class is installing new raised beds using lumber purchased by the club. 🌱 It’s amazing to see the cycle continue as new students learn and contribute to making our campus more sustainable and beautiful.Join us Wednesday at noon in S312 (our weekly meeting!) to help finish the beds and be part of this living example of regenerative education.#Permaculture #RegenerativeAgriculture #Hugelkultur #CampusGarden #StudentSustainability 22 1 Open We`re looking for students to join GCC`s Student Senate! We hope to host her for another visit soon to keep the conversation going! 67 0 Open Huge shoutout to the gleaners from Rachel’s Table who joined us on campus today! Together, we harvested over 200 pounds of potatoes and sweet potatoes that will go directly to our campus food pantry. 🥔🍠This partnership started two years ago, and since then our club members have helped glean thousands of pounds of produce—food that has been distributed both on campus and across Western Mass. We’re so grateful for the work @rachelstablewesternma does to make our food system more sustainable and equitable. 🌱💚Keep an eye out for free farmers’ markets coming later this semester thanks to this partnership!#Gleaning #CampusFoodPantry #FoodJustice #WesternMass #SustainableFood #FoodEquity #CommunityCare #LocalFood #Permaculture 26 1 Open 🌱 Permaculture Club Kickoff 🌱This Wednesday we’re starting the semester with:🥔 potato glean With @rachelstablewesternma 🐝 A visit to the campus beehives🌿 A walk to the campus’s own “secret” gardenWhether you want to get your hands dirty or just hear what’s happening this semester, everyone’s welcome!📍 S312 at noon this Wednesday#Permaculture #Gleaning #CampusGarden #Bees #SustainableLiving #FoodJustice #CommunityGrowing #GreenCampus 13 1 Open GCC students, alumni, faculty and staff helped out with the Green River cleanup as part of the @ctriverconservancy Source to Sea cleanup.
