GCC student awarded Women's Fund of Western Mass Ripple Effect Award

HOLYOKE - University of Massachusetts economist Nancy R. Folbre told a women's group Wednesday that the federal government needs to place more economic value on caregiving work done in the home and the community.
Folbre, a MacArthur Foundation "genius" grant recipient, was the keynote speaker at the annual celebration of the Women's Fund of Western Massachusetts held at the Log Cabin Banquet and Meeting House.

The fund honored Folbre and three Western Massachusetts women - Moana C. Rawlins, of Greenfield, and Pittsfield residents Champagne Eurquhart and Talya L. Taliferro - with Ripple Effect Awards.
