Chorus Fall Concert: Songs of North America

GCC Community Chorus presents their annual fall concert with Margery Heins, Director and John Yannis, Accompanist. “Songs of North America” celebrates the choral heritage of Canada, Mexico and the United States. Canadian selections include Kenneth Leslie’s Celtic-inspired “Cape Breton Lullaby,” Sarah Quartel’s “Wide Open Spaces,” and French-Canadian and Indigenous pieces. American works highlight William Billings’s “Anthem for Thanksgiving,” Rollo Dillworth’s arrangement of “Follow the Drinking Gourd,” Randall Thompson’s “Frostina,” the traditional blend “No Time” and David Chase and Judith Clurman’s “Washington Women.” Mexico is represented by the folk song “De colores” and Renaissance and Baroque masterworks by Manuel de Sumaya. Free and open to the public! Donations accepted at the door.
