Practicing Challenging Conversations

Practicing Challenging Conversations

Jonathan Mirin, co-founding Artistic Director of Piti Theatre, leads this workshop. Sometimes we need to have challenging conversations—but when do we get to practice them? This workshop provides an opportunity to try out various approaches to your “conversation in training.” Participants will also have the chance to apply “systems thinking” to the conversation which can lead to seeing issues through a wider lens that feels less about “personalities” and more about the big picture. After watching some strategy modeling, we will practice in pairs. Free and open to the public. Registration required; priority given to GCC students, faculty and staff.

Supported by a grant from the Educating Character Initiative at the Program for Leadership and Character at Wake Forest University, with generous support from Lilly Endowment Inc.

Jonathan Mirin is an award-winning actor, playwright, essayist, educator and activist who has spent nearly three decades working in theater and film while offering workshops about the ways art and life can support each other to varied groups including social workers, business school students, lawyers, historians, consultants and business leaders.
