Greenfield Community College is proud to announce its recognition as the 26th best community college in the United States, according to SmartAsset’s comprehensive ranking. This accolade highlights GCC's commitment to excellence in education and its pivotal role in the community.

SmartAsset evaluated 585 community colleges nationwide, focusing on crucial factors such as tuition and fees, student-to-faculty ratios and retention rates. Greenfield Community College's inclusion in the top 30 is a reflection of its dedication to providing exceptional support and opportunities for its students.

During the ranking assessment, GCC held a student-to-faculty ratio of 11:1, a retention rate of 73%, and annual tuition and fees of $5,810. Since then, the student-to-faculty ratio has improved to 10:1, and Massachusetts residents can now enjoy free tuition at GCC, significantly widening access to higher education. These developments further solidify GCC’s status as a crucial educational and community asset in the region.

Community colleges offer clear advantages, with studies indicating that individuals holding an associate degree typically earn 14% more annually, or $6,496 more, than those with only a high school diploma.

Beyond its robust degree and certificate offerings, Greenfield Community College serves as a crucial community anchor through its extensive Workforce Development (WFD) and Community Engagement programs. The WFD programs deliver vital training to meet the region’s immediate workforce needs, while community engagement initiatives encourage active learning and collaboration among individuals of all ages.
