Welcome to the website of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Standing Committee (DSC)! This website contains information about the standing committee, about programs and events supported by or endorsed by the Diversity Programming Committee, as well as general information about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) on the GCC campus.

The Diversity Equity and Inclusion Strategic Plan was adopted by the GCC Assembly in December 2019.

Diversity can mean a number of things. The GCC Diversity Standing Committee brainstormed a list of types of diversities we see on our campus and in the greater world. You may encounter these types of diversities while at GCC:

  • Addiction/Recovery Status
  • Age
  • Body Size
  • Criminal/Criminalized Background
  • Ethnic Background
  • Gender
  • Gender Identity/Expression
  • Geographic Background
  • Immigration Status
  • Housing Status
  • Learning Style
  • Linguistic Background
  • Mental Health Status
  • Physical Abilities
  • Political Affiliation
  • Race
  • Regional Background
  • Religion
  • Sex
  • Sexual Orientation
  • Socioeconomic Class
  • Technological Skill Level
  • Veteran Status

Inclusion of all types of diverse populations is fundamental to GCC. The institutional statement of inclusion reads: "As an inclusive community, Greenfield Community College engages in intentional and ongoing reflection of diversity as we seek to create a culture that values, encourages, and embraces a wide range of individual and group differences." Diversity is also a component of GCC's Principles of Education.

GCC promotes the recruitment and retention of diverse staff and faculty. Information about human resources and contact information for GCC's Chief Diversity Officer can be found on the Human Resources website.

Diversity is also a part of the College governance structure, with the Diversity Standing Committee being one of several committees contributing to the College Council. In 2019, the college established the Greenfield Community College Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Strategic Plan.
