Service Learning

Service is the act of using one’s time, skills, and compassion to meet the needs of others. At its core, service is about giving back to the community in meaningful ways—whether that means volunteering for a local nonprofit, supporting campus initiatives or lending your strengths to a cause bigger than yourself.

By participating in service and service learning, GCC students build not just résumés, but also networks, skills and a sense of belonging. Together, we can foster a culture of civic engagement that prepares students for careers and lifelong impact!

What is Service Learning?

Service learning goes one step further than traditional volunteering. It combines community service with academic learning. Students apply classroom knowledge to real-world experiences and, in return, reflect on how those experiences enhance their learning.

What is Americorps/VISTA?
