Raquette River Expedition Complete
Posted on Sunday September 25th 2011
This years Raquette River canoe expedition was a huge success! Despite concerns that river waters might be high from hurricane flooding, the group found the water levels to be perfect for the class 1 and 2 rapids on the last several days of the trip. The students were focused and serious when they were working, but enjoyed an easy companionship during the off hours. They showed dedication to learning the river reading, water sense, paddle strokes, and rescue skills needed to complete the expedition. In addition to river skills the students focused on refining camp-craft skills such as navigation, shelter choices, menu planning and cook-craft, packing systems, LNT, and expedition behavior. This group is off to a fantastic start.
