Phi Theta Kappa Phi Theta Kappa is an academic honor society open by invitation only to students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher who meet other membership criteria. We are the Alpha Sigma Omicron chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. Membership is based upon GPA and provides exclusive access to the Phi Theta Kappa network, a compilation of innovative and interactive benefits that will support you in college and in life. As a member, your academic excellence will be recognized with the membership certificate and identification card, and notation of membership on your transcripts. As a member you will have the option of purchasing regalia, (PTK gold tassel and stole), that can be worn at graduation to distinguish you as a Phi Theta Kappa member. Membership provides exclusive access to the Phi Theta Kappa network, a compilation of innovative and interactive benefits that will support you in college and in life. Candidates with a 3.5 GPA or better, who adhere to the school conduct code and possess recognized qualities of citizenship, will be invited to join the Alpha Sigma Omicron chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges. Each candidate for membership must have completed 12 semester hours of associate degree work, with a GPA of 3.5 or better. A GPA of 3.25 or better must be maintained to continue membership. Candidates may be full or part time students at GCC. Membership is by invitation only; eligible students may not join the society outside of the scheduled spring and fall enrollment invitation periods. The membership fee must accompany the completed application.
