E-mail to Campus Community on 3/10/2020 from President Salomon-Fernandez

Dear Campus Community,

As we monitor the developments around the Coronavirus, we are taking the necessary precautions and President’s Staff is engaged in planning to ensure the well-being and health of all on campus. Additionally, we have drafted continuity plans to make certain that the core functions of the College are carried on with contingency should we need that. Please monitor your emails for more information on classes, planned meetings and convenings, remote access, and other relevant information.

While there has been no cases of COVID-19 among our students, faculty or staff, we are proceeding with an abundance of caution. We have suspended college-sponsored travel for spring break. In adherence with Governor Baker’s request, we have also suspended college-sponsored international travel. As we prepare for spring break next week, we recommend that you err on the side of caution as you consider your private plans for those taking the time off. If you are traveling internationally, please consider completing this voluntary notification to the College: https://www.gcc.mass.edu/safety/travel-reporting/. The more we know, the best we are able to prepare and support you and all of our colleagues.

We have deployed our Emergency Management Plan with a small team meeting regularly on this. We will continue to communicate periodically with you as we get updated by the Department of Public Health, the Department of Higher Ed, and other state offices. For more information on staying healthy, visit https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

Many thanks to each of you as we navigate through this.

All the best,

Yves
