Update from Public Safety Regarding Dispatching Services

In an effort to continually enhance the safety and security of our campus, the Greenfield Community College Department of Public Safety is happy to announce a new partnership with Campus Dispatch to provide upgraded dispatching services for the GCC community. This service will start March 23rd at 8:00AM. GCC will continue to provide dispatching internally until the March 23rd changeover.

Professionally trained dispatchers will answer the emergency line for the department and dispatch officers to calls for service. The service Campus Dispatch provides allows us to ensure the consistency and integrity of incoming calls and dispatching of our officers. In addition, all calls and radio traffic are recorded for quality assurance, record keeping, and for emergency purposes.

Over the past several weeks, we have been testing connections and equipment and are ready to go live. With this changeover, the number for Public Safety will remain the same: x1111 from a campus phone or 413-775-1111 from your cell.

When you contact the Department of Public Safety, you will navigate a short phone tree to ensure your call for service is received immediately and response times are expedited.  The phone tree will have the following options:

Press 1 for Emergencies

Press 2 for Room unlocks, Vehicle Issues, and Office Unlocks

Press 3 to Speak to a Dispatcher

The dispatchers will ask for information regarding your request. Please be sure you answer all dispatchers’ questions such as, your full name, location (building and room) and any other information they request over the phone as this helps ensure they dispatch the officers with the information the officers need to expedite your request.

We are very excited about this opportunity to link Campus Dispatch with our own Public Safety Department.

The Public Safety Office is the central receiving point for all Public Safety-related communications.  The office (South 110) is staffed from 8am to 10pm on college business days.  Campus police/security officers are on-duty 24 hours a day and can be reached at the phone numbers below, even when the office is not staffed.

All police, fire, or medical emergency calls should be directed to Public Safety by dialing 1111 from college phones or 413-775-1111 from cell phones.
