As part of our ongoing efforts to improve our security practices, GCC enforces Google 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) across our organization. This additional security layer protects our systems and data from unauthorized access by requiring a second verification method beyond a password.

The following instructions are for enabling 2-Step Verification for Google accounts and services. See also Google's support documentation regarding authentication.

Allow 2-Step Verification #

• Open your Google Account
• Click on Security & sign in
• Under “How you sign in to Google” select Turn on 2-Step Verification
• Follow the on-screen steps

Second Steps #

Options for 2-Step Verification include the following:

• Passkeys and security keys: Use a fingerprint, face scan, screen lock PIN or physical hardware key
• Google prompt: Receive a prompt on your phone to tap yes when signing in
• Authenticator: Generate time-based codes using an app like Google Authenticator, which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or the iOS App Store
• Phone Number: Receive a verification code via SMS or voice call to your phone number
• Backup codes: Print a list of codes to keep with you that you can enter to sign in
