If you’ve already completed college coursework, earned credit through exams, or gained learning through work or military experience, you may be able to apply that credit toward a degree or certificate at Greenfield Community College. GCC is committed to helping students save time and money by recognizing prior learning whenever possible. Our team works with you to review your academic history and determine how your credits may apply to your program. You may be eligible to earn credit through: College courses taken at other accredited colleges or universities Advanced Placement (AP) exams College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams Military training and experience Credit by exam for selected GCC courses Credit for prior learning based on professional or workforce experience Credits may apply directly to your program requirements or count as electives, depending on your major. How Transfer Credit Works Apply to GCC and declare a major Transfer credit is evaluated once you are accepted into a degree or certificate program. Submit official transcripts or score reports This may include transcripts from other colleges, AP or CLEP score reports, or military documentation. Credit evaluation Our team reviews your materials to determine how credits apply to your chosen program. Review your results You’ll receive an email when the evaluation is complete and can review awarded credits in MyGCC. If you later change your major, you can request a re-evaluation (additional credits may be awarded). How Much Credit Can Transfer? Associate degrees: At least 25% of required credits must be completed at GCC. Certificates: At least 75% of required credits must be completed at GCC. Grades & Credit Transfer Most transfer credit requires a grade of C- or higher Only college-level coursework transfers Transfer credits do not affect your GCC GPA Some programs may require coursework to be completed within a certain timeframe Military Credit & the VALOR Act GCC proudly supports veterans and service members by recognizing eligible military training and experience for academic credit. Credits may be awarded based on: ACE credit recommendations Military transcripts CLEP or DANTES exams The Transfer Credit Evaluator serves as the single point of contact for military credit evaluation and guidance under the VALOR Act.
