Sustainable Budgeting at Greenfield Community College

Sustainable budgeting at Greenfield Community College is the allocation of available resources in ways that ensure the long-term viability and health of the college and its mission. Sustainable budgeting also strengthens areas where the college excels and supports the priorities we identify as a community.

Therefore, a sustainable budgeting process must consider: all sources of income, a base annual operating budget, funding for annual priorities, and the development of a reserve for unanticipated events and opportunities. Sustainable budgeting asks the college to recognize each of our roles in an ecosystem with a shared goal of maintaining our ability to meet the promises of our college mission.

For a budgeting process to be sustainable, institutional priorities must influence resource allocation and the efficient use of increasingly scarce resources is essential to future sustainability and the ability to meet the mandates of the college mission.
