Geoscience education, also known as earth science, is a crucial component of understanding our planet and its complex systems. It is the study of Earth's physical features, processes, and systems, as well as the natural and human-induced events that shape it. It encompasses a wide range of disciplines, including physical geology, geochemistry, geoengineering, hydrology, oceanography, mineralogy, paleoclimatology, paleontology, sedimentology, geochronology, petrology and more.

As part of our Environmental Conservation degree program students with an interest in this field can focus on geosciences.

Geoscience Course Offerings

  • GEO101 Planet Earth
  • GEO205 History of Planet Earth and Life
  • GEO109 Global Climate Change
  • GEO104 Oceanography

Other Courses that Support Geoscience

  • BIO120 Intro to Environmental Science
  • SCI138 Soil Science

Our Environmental Conservation AS degree with a geoscience focus is part of the MassTransfer A2B map program to transfer to UMASS–Amherst towards a BS in Geology.
