The specimen is a Mercury Ore called "Cinnabar". It is bright red with grey veins throughout. Has perfect cleavage and uneven fracture. Streaks red. Brittle and prone to breakage. May release Mercury fumes when heated so be cautious. Advised to wash hands after handling.
