Arborist Intern Overview The Greenfield Tree Committee is a local NGO, planting trees in Greenfield on both public streets and on private property. The Tree Committee works alongside the city and the Dept. of Public Works to provide these trees and their environmental services to Greenfield residents. This position involves working in the tree nursery to care for trees, data entry and inventory management, and physically planting trees. Intern Responsibilities The intern will be expected to do basic plant nursery tasks, such as watering, light pruning, potting and assisting in managing the tree inventory. Intern will help plan and attend at least one of several tree-planting events over the late summer. Intern will perform local tree maintenance, both attended and unattended. This includes mulching, weeding, and watering during the summer months, as well as entering data on the status and health of the trees into the inventory system. Preferred Qualifications Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel and/or Google equivalents. Ability to bend, twist, and sit, walk or stand for several hours. Must be able to lift 30lbs. Basic knowledge of northeast native trees is appreciated, but not necessary.
