Overview

Harvard Forest is Harvard University’s world-class ecological research hub at the nexus of many national and international scientific networks, which Summer Program students leverage to conduct research and build their careers.

Our 2026 summer program dates: Tuesday, May 26 – Friday, August 7.

Applications for the 2026 summer program are open until February 6, 2026. 

Program participants join a community of fellow students, mentors, and researchers from across these networks, gaining experience in the full scientific process by working in diverse collaborative teams, developing data science skills, and building professional networks to launch careers that will make a difference in the world.

Intern Responsibilities

We seek a diverse group of undergraduate students from a variety of undergraduate programs across the country to join an immersive research experience, connecting students, mentors, and researchers in the pursuit of scientific inquiry through:

Research:
Work collaboratively to solve environmental problems using scientific methods.

Education:
Bridge from student to scientist: build marketable skills, learn how to use and understand data.

Community: Join scientists at a world-class research hub to expand your network.

Preferred Qualifications

Eligibility

  • The Harvard Forest Summer Program is open to undergraduates from 2-year and 4-year colleges and universities.
  • Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or Resident Aliens.

Applications will close on February 6, 2026. Late/incomplete applications will not be accepted. NO EXCEPTIONS!
