When it came time to choose a college, Natalie Grunwald’s decision was driven by two practical factors: quality and cost. "I chose to attend GCC because of its reputation, and it was the most affordable option," she shared. By choosing GCC, Natalie was able to access a specialized career path without the heavy financial burden often associated with medical programs.

Natalie is currently enrolled in the surgical technology program, a high-demand field that requires precision, focus and a deep understanding of the surgical environment. Despite the rigors of the curriculum, Natalie says her experience has been "great," largely due to the responsive and helpful nature of the people on campus.

She credits two key figures with making her journey smoother: her advisor Michael Sirois, who provided essential support and guidance during her freshman year, and Nicole Turner, the Surgical Technology Program Coordinator. "She is super fun and makes learning the profession so much better," Natalie said.

Like many students, Natalie’s journey hasn't been without its hurdles. Moving from high school to higher education required a shift in mindset. "I've had to adjust to the flow of college and the workload," she noted.

Through that adjustment period, she found sanctuary in the campus itself. The beautiful outdoor spaces and many friendly indoor areas are a great contrast to the fast-paced academics of the surgical technology program. "I love how beautiful the campus is! It's peaceful," she said.

Once Natalie completes her program, she plans to become a certified surgical technologist. For anyone on the fence about applying to GCC, Natalie has a simple message: "Take the plunge!" She reassures prospective students that they won't have to navigate the journey alone. "Everyone is generally very nice and supportive here. You'll find your people."
