As a dual enrollment student finishing their final year of high school while simultaneously navigating college life, Kasey Kellogg has found that Greenfield Community College is the perfect environment for both academic challenge and personal acceptance.

"I chose GCC because I wanted to challenge myself and try to find a community that would accept me for who I was," Kasey shared. Since arriving, they have found exactly that—a supportive atmosphere that offers "the freedom to learn, grow and struggle without fear of being left behind."

Currently completing their high school requirements through the Dual Enrollment program, Kasey’s love for the natural world is already evident in how they spend their time on campus. They have formed strong bonds with faculty and staff, particularly within the Agriculture department. “Planting seeds in the garden with classmates for hours is one of the best parts of the year,” Kasey said, highlighting the hands-on, collaborative spirit of the GCC community.

Kasey is a familiar face at campus events, always looking for opportunities to connect with others. Whether it’s chatting with students from neighboring schools or learning about new initiatives from various campus clubs, Kasey believes in the power of shared experiences.

Their highlight of the year so far was the Nahman-Watson Library’s Plant Swap. "Chatting with folks... and sharing experiences at events is always worth the time," they explained. It is this mix of social connection and practical learning that has made Kasey’s time at GCC so impactful.

Looking toward the future, Kasey plans to attend GCC in the fall as a full-time college student and focus on Biology. They carry with them the confidence that comes from being part of a community that values the individual. For Kasey, the journey is just beginning, and the seeds they’ve planted at GCC (both literally and figuratively) are already starting to bloom.
