On Thursday, November 14, 10 individuals in the Greenfield court system ended one chapter and began the next after graduating from GCC’s Changing Lives Through Literature program, part of a national alternative sentencing program.

Though belated, our welcome to two new members of the GCC leadership team is no less sincere. Shanni Smith-Arsenault, Ed.D and Shelley Errington Nicholson, Ph.D., joined GCC in July 2024.
Shanni, our new Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success, brings over 20 years of experience in enrollment management and student affairs. She oversees a division that includes Marketing and Communications, Student Financial Services, Admission, Testing and Assessment, Dual Enrollment, Academic Advising, Career and Transfer Services, Registrar’s Office, and Student Affairs.
She says, “I’m thrilled to be leading an amazing team of people who are passionate about helping students pursue their academic and professional goals and dreams. As a first-generation college student myself and a beneficiary of MA public higher education I know just how important enrollment and student success services can be.”
Shelley, our new Dean of Students, also brings over 20 years of higher education leadership experience at higher education institutions. In her new role, she oversees and provides strategic direction for all student services including student engagement and leadership, the veterans center, the women’s resource center, the food pantry, peer tutoring, the recreation center and the Wellness Center.
She says, “It is deeply satisfying to have even a small hand in helping students meet their academic, career and personal goals. To be doing so at this dynamic and innovative institution is a tremendous honor.”

This year’s theme is “Join the Circus””—explore an eight-acre maze of circus trivia, play games of strength and skill along Mike’s Midway, clown around in Mike’s magnificent playground or shoot out the giant slide like a human cannonball. Come by with your family and friends to enjoy the maze while helping to raise money for GCC!
